About us

According to the pastoral principles of welcome and services for pilgrims (groups, parishes, dioceses, families, etc.),
the Spanish Episcopal Conference and the Pontifical Spanish College of St. Joseph in Rome
have given permission to use some areas of the College in order to turn them into the House “San Juan de Ávila”.

A pastoral service

The House offers a new pastoral service in order to welcome the pilgrims that come to Rome and need an accomodation in a friendly and pleasant atmosphere, according to the will of the Spanish Episcopal Conference. Besides it is the see of the Pontifical Spanish College.


Close to the heart of Rome
The House offers a genuine and careful hospitality. It has a privileged location near the heart of Rome (Vatican City and the historic centre), well connected by both private and public transport. The reception is open 24 hours a day and besides we provide free wi-fi, buffet continental breakfast and both local and international food for dinner.

Welcome for pilgrims

Near St. Peter
The House is ideal for pilgrims and whoever makes religious trips to Rome. There is a roomy chapel inside and a service of orientation and assistance at guests’ entire disposal, both before and during the pilgrimage to the Eternal City.

Services for the organizers of pilgrimages

Besides the standard services of accomodation facilities, the house offers a services dedicated to the people in charge of the organization of pilgrimage. An expert team will be at your entire disposal. We can provide: ticket reservation for the General Audience of the Holy Father; reservation for the Holy Mass in St. Peter, St. Paul outside the Walls, St. John Lateran and St. Mary Major; guided tours to Vatican Museums, Coliseum, Catacombs, etc.; shuttle transfer service from/to the airports, coach hiring, etc.

For families

Ideal for children
The House offers a warm and quiet atmosphere for families that can enjoy dedicated areas like: nursery, children play room and cooking area for mothers with babies. The apartments for 4 people and the communicating rooms are ideal for families.

Nature, culture and sport

Deep in the Nature
The House San Juan de Ávila has a wonderful park of an hectare with a football field, a basketball court, a swimming pool and a children play area. It borders Villa Carpegna and is 5 minutes away from Villa Doria Pamphily, one of the biggest parks in Rome.

Welcome for disabled people

Every architectural barriers have been eliminated in order to allow disabled people to reach the common spaces of the house. There are 6 rooms equipped for people with reduced mobility. Besides there are an App with vocal orientation and and color contrast for blind or visually impaired people.

For work and study
We offer promotions and services for whoever needs to stay in Rome for a long time, in a part of the city full of companies, authorities, religious institutions and well connected with the most important study centres of Rome.
